Alberta Government Rebate Program
COMMERCIAL VEHICLE REBATE PROGRAM
Environment Minister Rob Renner announced on May 31, 2010 the Alberta Government, in partnership with Climate Control Central, will spend up to $2,000,000 over the next 18 months to assist commercial vehicle operators adopt fuel efficient and aerodynamic technologies to reduce green house gas emissions. The program is designed specifically to assist operators by offering rebates on purchases up to $30,000 per company.
Mayne Root, Executive Director of the Alberta Motor Transport Association, believes this is a real opportunity for each organization, including individual owner operators, to take advantage of an incentive which will also reduce costs.
Eligible vehicle upgrades per unit include:
$400 Cab Heaters
$1,500 Auxiliary Power Units (heating, cooling, power)
$500 Trailer Skirts
$500 End Fairings
$300 Gap Fairings
$7,000 Hybrids (Limited to a maximum of one rebate per company)
As the total funding is limited to $2,000,000 we recommend each company visit Climate Control Central’s program website at www.trucksoftomorrow.com to register and reserve funds if they intend to retrofit existing equipment or include the fuel saving technologies on new equipment.
